CSIR Technician Mode of Selection & Scheme of Examination

  • Stage 1: Screening & Shortlisting : Received online applications will be scrutinized by a Screening Committee based on their own criteria to shortlist candidates.
  • Stage 2: Trade Test (Qualifying Nature) : Shortlisted applicants will be invited for a Trade Test. Only those who qualify the Trade Test will be allowed to sit for the written exam.
  • Stage 3: Competitive Written Examination (Total 150 Questions | 2 Hours 30 Minutes) : Converted to OMR-Based or Computer-Based (CBT) multiple-choice test set in Hindi & English (except English language section).• Paper-I (Time Allotted: 1 Hour): Mental Ability Test (includes General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning, Problem Solving, Situational Judgment) — 50 Questions (100 Marks). NO NEGATIVE MARKS. Evaluated first; threshold marks required to unlock evaluation of Paper-II & Paper-III.

    • Paper-II (Time Allotted: 30 Minutes): General Awareness (25 Qs | 75 Marks) & English Language (25 Qs | 75 Marks). Negative marking: -1 mark for every wrong answer.

    • Paper-III (Time Allotted: 1 Hour): Concerned Trade/Subject Domain Questions — 50 Questions (150 Marks). Negative marking: -1 mark for every wrong answer.

  • Final Merit List Formulation : The final rank list is drafted purely on the cumulative aggregate marks secured by candidates in Paper-II and Paper-III only.

  • Step 1 (Profile Registration): Register your name, working Email ID, and Mobile number to generate your User ID and password. Log in and complete your basic profile core details. Once checked and locked, profile data cannot be edited.
  • Step 2 (Data Feeding & Document Upload): Fill out personal, educational (from Class 10th onwards), and experience tabs. Upload clear scanned copies of documents including passport photo (JPG, <50 KB), Signature (Black ink JPG, <50 KB), and essential certificates (consolidated PDF up to 1 MB per document).
  • Step 3 (Live Photo Capture): Capture your live face photo directly through your desktop webcam or by scanning the on-screen unique QR Code with your mobile phone. Position your face inside the green frame and blink naturally once to let the auto-system trigger the capture. Mismatched or non-clear photos will lead to system rejection.
