Delhi High Court SPA & PA Selection Process & Examination Pattern

  • Stage-I: English Typing Test
  • Stage-II: English Shorthand Tests
  • Stage-III: Main (Descriptive) Examination
  • Stage-IV: Interview.
  • Stage-I: English Typing Test (Qualifying) : 10 Minutes duration on computer with minimum speed of 40 w.p.m. (Permissible mistakes: up to 3% of total words typed).
  • Stage-II: English Shorthand Tests :
    • For SPA (120 Marks): 110 w.p.m. (550 words dictated in 5 minutes; 45 minutes for transcription; max permissible mistakes: 27.5).
    • For PA (110 Marks): 100 w.p.m. (500 words dictated in 5 minutes; 45 minutes for transcription; max permissible mistakes: 25).
  • Stage-III: Main (Descriptive) Exam (100 Marks | 120 Minutes) : Essay (40 Marks), Letter Writing (15 Marks), Grammar & Comprehension (25 Marks), Translation Hindi to English (10 Marks) & English to Hindi (10 Marks). Qualifying marks: 50% for General (SPA) and 45% for Reserved categories.
  • Stage-IV: Interview (15 Marks) : No minimum qualifying marks. Final merit is prepared by combining marks of Stage-II, Stage-III, and Stage-IV.
  • Note on Exemption : No candidate, including PwBD candidates, is granted exemption from typing or shorthand tests; no scribe or compensatory time is permissible.

  • Upload scanned passport size photograph with 75% face coverage (100–200 KB in JPEG), capture mandatory live photo via webcam/mobile, upload left-hand thumb impression (50–200 KB), and signature (50–150 KB).
